Group 160 participates in many events throughout the year. Some of the events that Group 160 participates in consist of Great American Train Shows. You only have to look around many of the Southern California GATS show to see Group 160's banner. They also try to do many non-GATS events. One of the events that Group 160 tries to participate in every year is a chili cook off that an Arcadia church holds every October. It is grand fun for the whole family. The church has many activities to keep the kids busy and happy. They also have good food and sodas for the grown-ups, not to mention watching Group 160's layout. Another event that Group 160 did in 2001, and hopes to do again in the future, is Knott's Berry Farm. In past years Knott's has invited many train clubs to set up layouts to help celebrate their steam train's birthday. Everyone has had a wonderful time helping Knott's celebrate this momentous event. Group 160 was honored to be invited to Santa Susanna's open house. This is getting to be a yearly event. There are many things about Santa Susanna that make it a fun local to go to. One of the fun things about Santa Susanna is the fact that is a wonderful old train depot right next to the main Ventura line. When a train is heard to be approaching, everyone in Group 160 stops the model trains and runs outside to see the real thing. The people are another thing that everyone enjoys. Everyone that Group 160 sees and talks to at Santa Susanna is so friendly and nice. Finally, this year Group 160 hopes to set up a layout in a Burbank mall in December. They look forward to helping spread holiday cheer to the mall's guest.
