The 2005 National N Scale Convention -
Convention Update

Hey Everybody!

Wow, we had a great time in Chantilly where, for the first time, The Ntrak and the N Scale Collector conventions were held in the same place at the same time! The activities were great, the camaraderie was terrific, and the layout was huge! The folks at the NSC and the folks from NVNTrak put on a great show and everyone had a great time. The only comment heard was the distance between the two events (only a mile) was great enough to make transportation time a factor in choosing between events. Well, we've addressed that issue for 2005.

We're happy to announce the 2005 National N Scale Convention in San Diego. This convention will be held from August 17th through the 21st at San Diego's Town and Country Resort and Convention Center. You will be able to register really soon through the host organization's web sites. This event will be hosted by the N Scale Collector and the Southern California N Scale Council.

The events are starting to come together for this amazing convention. It will feature visits to World Famous layouts like Belmont Shore Lines and San Diego Society of N at the Model Railroad Museum in Balboa Park. We will have events on the flight deck of the USS Midway aircraft carrier, and there will be a rail excursion, hopefully behind steam. The hotel is located on the famous San Diego Trolley line that runs past the Padres and Chargers stadiums, all the way to the US/Mexico border.

In addition to all of the events that the NSC convention has become famous for (and if you have been to one, you KNOW what a good time the live auction, Swaparama, banquet, and the others are!), the Ntrak/N Scale events for the convention include: Clinics, headed by Russ Kaufmann of the N Scale Architect who promises many nationally known clinicians, A Layout that is large and features modules from throughout the west with 128 modules committed even before the show has been announced! (Clubs, contact us for special incentives to tow your layout trailer to the event), Tours to Belmont Shore Lines for an Operating Session (Bring a train!) and the Model RR Museum featuring layouts of many scales including the SDSONS.

If you want access to the Manufacturers, this is the place to be. There will be the Conversation with Manufacturers that is traditional after the Swaparama at the NSC, where there is direct and frank discussion about how a product is made, and why. Your input is welcome. Also, the Ntrak traditional Manufacturer's breakfast is on the schedule, for the manufacturers to tell what is up-coming, always a surprise. And, at the end of the week, a show for the Public, where all of the Manufacturers have the opportunity to show their wares and samples to you and the visiting public.

San Diego is a great town for families, with beaches, harbor tours, one of the world greatest wooden roller coasters, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, and Legoland within easy reach. For those with a little more vacation time, Disneyland and Los Angeles are a short drive north, as are the Cajon Pass and Tehachapi Loop!

We invite you to what will be a memorable N Scale Event. Please join us, won't you?
